NIMCON 7 News
READY TO GO!
We are all ready for NIMCON 7. All 50 tables available for vendors are sold. All of our trophies are sponsored. All preparations are complete. All we need now is you! Please come out and join us for what is sure to be another great NIMCON. We look forward to seeing you Saturday June 16th.
Thank you to our trophy sponsors!
All of our categories, best of, and grand awards have been sponsored! A bit thank you to all those who sponsored awards.
A special presentation of Viet Nam memorabilia
We are pleased to announce that David Moore will be displaying his collection of Viet Nam memorabilia, including printed materials, uniforms and other items at the show. This display will tie in with our theme of remembrance for Viet Nam and will undoubtedly be very interesting to peruse.
WGW Foods on site
We have confirmed that WGW Foods will, once again, be on site to take care of our hungry attendees. Grab lunch at the show so you have more time to check out the models, vendors and attend the seminars.
For those who have attended the past few NIMCON shows and have taken home an award, you know we strive to make our awards unique. We have procured new medals, as we can no longer obtain the bases we used in the past few shows. Like our previous medallions on bases, our new medals will be a nice recognition of the outstanding achievements of our entrants and be unmistakeable as an award won at NIMCON. All the more reason to come out to the show and enter your work!
Goodie bags are back!
At NIMCON 7 we will be handing out goodie bags to modelers who enter their work in the show. We are working to obtain information from hobby companies, useful items, and even kits to stuff in the goodie bags this year. Enter your models and claim your goodie bag at the show.
The seminars at the Butch O’Hare show back in November were fantastic, so we are following their example to bring you seminars at the NIMCON 7 show. We will have two seminars at the show:
Carl Knable will be show techniques he uses to produce his amazing IPMS National award winning aircraft models. If you missed this at Butch O’Hare, you will want to attend this seminar as Carl runs through technics covering the whole process from construction to finish. Even if you saw him at Butch O’hare, you will want to see him again, as he passes on a lot of tips and techniques any modeler can use.
We are also happy to announce that Ned Ricks will provide a seminar based on his experiences in Viet Nam. In keeping with our show theme, we wanted to provide our attendees with a memorable experience related to subjects we may model, but also with something to take away in remembrance of our men and women who served our country. Ned has authored books on the subject and is seasoned public speaker. You will be educated, moved, and entertained. You don’t want to miss this.
The vendor room will be full
We might be able to fit in a couple more, but all planned vendor tables have been reserved and we will have a full house of vendors. Along with our usual vendors selling kits, tools, supplies, etc., we will also have vendors with some new and interesting products, such as lighting for models.
Best Of awards and Master Class
This year we will have two Best Of awards in the aircraft and armor categories and a single Master Class award. This will allow more modelers in our most populated categories a shot at a special award. The Master Class winner will still be decided by popular vote of the entrants but we will award only one Master Class award based on number of overall votes. As a reminder, the Master Class is for those entries that are previous winners at NIMCON, Regional or National level competitions, so bring your best award winners for all to see and take a shot at this coveted award.
This year we will have teams of judges start reviewing exhibits as they are placed in their categories by entrants. We hope this will speed up the process to ensure we are timely with the awards ceremony and perhaps give us time for a nicer presentation. Our judges will be working as entries are coming in and our show goers are admiring the work, so please be mindful of this and courteous to our judging teams as we work to make the process more efficient. We have also completely rewritten our judging criteria to make it simpler and reflect our philisophy on how exhibits should be assessed by our judging teams. Please see the NIMCON post for New Judging Criteria that contains a link where you can view/download the update.
